The Hybrid ion-60 germicidal air purifier is designed for larger spaces, this air purifier features a Philips Ultraviolet Germicidal Sterilamp® protection, a permanent filter system, and an ultra quiet built-in fan to capture and neutralize a host of harmful airborne pollutants, bacteria and viruses.

The Hybrid ion-60 has a defence against virtually every type of airborne pollutant. The electronic dust collection grid is effective at capturing dust and allergens. The germicidal UV lamp is lethal against microorganisms such as dust mites, and ionisers are proven to enhance the performance of filters. The germicidal UV light is effective at destroying the toxins released into the air by mould spores. It is also deadly for germs and viruses and neutralizing these microorganisms. The ioniser and UV light also help with trapping pollutants such as chemicals, gases, etc. The ioniser is also effective at removing smoke and dust from the air.

Virtually all particles in the air have a positive charge, while negative ions have a negative charge. In which case, negative ions and particles magnetically attract to one another. When there is a high enough concentration of negative ions in the air, they will attract to floating particles in large numbers. This causes the particle to become too heavy to remain airborne. As a result, the particle will fall out of the air, preventing it from being inhaled into the respiratory tract where it can trigger breathing and health problems.

In nature, negative ions are generated by processes such as sunlight, lightening, waves from the ocean, and from waterfalls.
